a while ago i received an email at work from a lady who was having problems with her printer.

she wrote:

I am a retired old lady, and have trouble with my hp office jet p40 scanning text. I do not have a business, just my personal use. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. :)

i thought that was really so cute! i got so inspired by her email that i’ve started working on a series of  drawings… a supercute retired old lady doing (trying to do) things connected to power plugs…

Distracted by the smell of hot chocolate and farts

I can be quite distracted.

I went to the gym yesterday. I usually join in a group step workout where people stand close to one another. It is also a type of workout where you have remember simple sequence of moves. And I think it is fun to jump around. This is one of the rare opportunities where you find a group of people jumping around some kind of plastic board to pop music and no one laughs. So yesterday, one of the girls jumping next to me farted at some point or another.

It could have been the world’s most disgusting fart.

And it is distracting.

Then, there is a boy at work this week who is on an internship with us. He has the same first name as Gene Hackman and the same last name as Robin Carlsson, the Swedish singer better known as Robyn, who shares the same last name as one of my colleagues Thomas Carlsson.

So, this younger Carlsson in the office loves hot chocolate. He also likes to drink it hot. I know because I can hear him sipping his hot chocolate very well every now and then.

And it is distracting.

But it smells really good.

I know I am not getting anywhere with this post but now my brain is associating the smell of hot chocolate with the smell of farts.

*dies*

By the way, this girl known as “Art and Ghosts” is such a talented artist/illustrator. Her work is intriguing. She inspires me.

A story of how I was inspired by the sound of a baby dinosaur

This is a true story.

Mook made a cute funny sound last night. It happened after I had a shower, when I stopped by the couch in the living room to kiss Him goodnight.

*ekkkk ekkkk eeeekkkk eeeekkk eeeeeeeeeeek*

It was so homely, such a nice surprise.
I became quite happy.
Almost like I was experiencing an epiphany.

I really wish I could store the sound in a tiny little wooden box that I could keep with me wherever I went. The box would always be kept close to me so that I could listen to it whenever I needed to cheer myself up. Whenever it rained. I know it was just a silly sound. It sounded a bit like what a baby dinosaur would have sounded like, in my tiny little world, of course. *s*

But I just wanted to keep it, play it over and over again until I got sick of it.

It made me remembered this animated movie which I loved when I was a little girl. Corny, I know. But that was how I felt…

I realised today that I could not keep that little sound out of my head. I started looking around the Internet, googling for “baby dinosaur” to search for a similar sound. It was not as easy as I thought.

Then I went into flickr and searched for “baby dinosaur” again.

And then I found the most amazing thing that made my day. A woman who made these colourful mini dinosaurs she called “Dino Dudes” with polymer clay.

And so I remembered that I used to love playing with clay. Playdoh to be exact. I used to make little jewelries like rings and earrings, dolls with tiny dresses, doll house with tiny little chairs and cute curtains with ribbons, mini pizzas, and baby french fries.

I became quite happy.

Now I just can’t wait to get my hands on clay again.

Hugs.
